The Center for Teacher Formation and the Courage to Teach Collaboration sponsor Formation Principles and Practices Retreat: A National Conversation

This retreat is for people from all professionas and throughout the USA who want to experience a Courage to Teach retreat (Circle of Trust asdescribed by Parker J. Palmer), to learn more about how to create evocative and trustworthy spaces for learning and reflection, and to bring greater depth to the work they are already doing. Sponsored by the Center for Teacher Formation, Bainbridge, WA, it will be held March 3 - March 7, 2004 at the TBarM Hotel and Conference Center in New Braunfels, Texas. It is the perfect opportunity for teams and colleagues to explore circles of trust together. Program costs are $450 for public school educators, $650 for other educators of non-profit professionals and $825 for other participants. Room and board is $395 double occupancy; $480 single occupancy. CEU's available through TCU for additional fee.

 

Parker Palmer's visit to Fort Worth extends dialog

The presentation of "Courage to Lead, to Teach, to Serve...to Live with Integrity" by Parker J. Palmer, PhD on October 15, 2003 was inspirational, inspiring and engaging. Several people suggested that the gathering was significant in large part to the amazing group of 375 individuals who chose to spend the evening together. Many people stayed after the meeting to continue discussion of topics that were presented by Dr. Palmer.

Continuing the Conversation among Lawyers

Ten lawyers met on November 4 to discuss their responses to the October 15th presentation. They plan to meet again at noon on Tuesday, Decmeber 2, 2003 a the law offices of Harris, Finley and Bogle, 36th Floor, Carter Burgess Building, 777 Main. Continuing the Conversation among Education Leaders

Fifteen campus and central office administrators met at Hill School on November 11th to discuss the concept of "relational trust", a key ingrdient in successful school reform, and a significant concept in Dr. Palmer's October 15 presentation. A retreat for campus and central office leaders is planned for January 30-31, 2004 at the Residence Inn, Marriott - Alliance Airport. A generous gift from the Sid Richardson Foundation has reduced the registration fee to $75 per person. Registration will be limited and participants accepted on a first come - first served basis.
